Intricate marble inlay work at Taj Mahal

  The Taj Mahal is the pleasing white marble monument in Agra, India,which is situated at the bank of river Yamuna. The Taj Mahal was made by mughal emperor Shahjahan at the recall of his beloved wife Mumtaz. Mumtaz was a Muslim Persian princess (her name Arjumand Banu Begum before marriage). It was in 1631 that she died during the birth of their 14th child at Burhanpur. The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631, After 20-22 year its construction was complete. This monument was constructed of white marble inlaid with semi-precious gemstones (including jade, crystal, lapis lazuli, amethyst, turquoise, malachite and jasper) forming intricate designs in a technique known as pietra dura. Its central dome height is 240 feet (73 meters) and is surrounded by four smaller domes; four slender towers, or minarets, stood at the corners. Every Tower is make the 90 degree angle from the dome.
