The Process of Inlay Art

Marble Inlay art is the visual art which is called Pacchikari, Nakkashi. Inlay art is ancient art you can see this inlay art on monuments such as Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Akbar tomb, Itmad Ud Daula, Hamayun's tomb and many more.  




The Process of Inlay Work if very delighted and very fine.

First Step:-       Choose the base of the marble like white marble, black marble (Makaran and Italian marble)and you can choose the colorful bases like green marble and brown marble (Malachite and tiger eye)  as per the client requirement.


Second Step:-  Choose the design pattern and draw the design pattern by pencil after that etched out by hand.


Third Step:-    Choose the colorful stone according to the design like Malachite(Green), Turquoise(Sky Blue), Jasper (Orange) etc.                                                                            

Here is the list of stones. Each stone has its own specialty which provide the different look and style to the design.

Forth Step:-  Shapes the stones by using the hand operated machine which is called HONE according to the design.
Fifth Step:-  The marble is currently chiseled to create some space for the stones to be set. 
Sixth Step:-  After that stones pieces are add with the help of glue.




Each artist is responsible for the different motif.

  The Taj Mahal is the pleasing white marble monument in Agra, India,which is situated at the bank of river Yamuna. The Taj Mahal was made by mughal emperor Shahjahan at the recall of his beloved wife Mumtaz. Mumtaz was a Muslim Persian princess (her name Arjumand Banu Begum before marriage). It was in 1631 that she died during the birth of their 14th child at Burhanpur. The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631, After 20-22 year its construction was complete.
